How to be Productive While Working From Home
Most people who have to wake up early and commute to work see the opportunity to work from home as a luxury. However, working from home has its downsides. Most often it’s the struggle to get everything done on time. To help you with that, we’ll share a few tips to keep you productive.
Create a Schedule and Stick to It
Without a schedule, your productivity will likely begin to decrease over time. That’s why you should determine your working hours and try to focus as much as possible during that time, just like with a regular office job. The alternative to structuring your time is feeling like your working all day, but not getting much done, which can lead to burnout.
To set things straight, tell everyone when you’re supposed to be working so that they know not to disturb you. Often, people will consider that you’re available all day long because you’re working from home. Be firm and set boundaries. Working without interruption is essential for most jobs; yours is no different as an affiliate marketer.
Avoid Distractions, Block Disturbances
Those working from home will have many distractions and few obstacles preventing them from slacking off. But, it’s not all about external disturbances. Yes, a schedule and strict working hours may stop others from bothering you, but it won’t stop your mind from wandering. This has never been more relevant than now, in the age of the internet, which gives you an endless number of easy ways to distract yourself.
The best way to prevent these problems is to start by ignoring social media if it’s not related to work. You can go a step further and remove the bookmarks from your browser, or put your phone on silent. Then, try to identify other sites and services that might be distracting you. This might be a Podcast, YouTube clips, music on the radio, etc.
Use Breaks and Work Windows
According to Inc.com, people have the best focus and work hardest in blocks of 90 minutes. So, instead of viewing a work day as a single 8 or 9-hour chunk, divide it into working windows of 90 minutes and add 15-minute breaks between them. When on a break we suggest that you get up from your computer to stretch, watch TV, eat, or go to the corner store. In addition to this, you can determine when you’ll be doing particular tasks based on your preferences. For instance, you might want to write a blog post in the morning before answering emails, and then schedule a Skype meeting with team members in the afternoon.
Establish a Dedicated Office Space
Staying in bed in your pajamas works for some, but it’s more likely that you’ll get things done if you put on some clothes and sit at a comfortable desk and chair. You can create an office at home, go to a co-working space, or a local coffee shop. What’s important is that you switch from a leisure mindset to a working mindset.
If you want to work from home and earn good money, affiliate marketing is for you. However, you need to be productive by setting schedules and boundaries for yourself and others while avoiding the pitfalls of working from home.
